IIA Students 2019-2021

The students who are eligible to apply for the honors program are enrolled at NIAAD. The students that have been accepted to the first honors program have expressed a great interest in conjoining their artistic talents and aspirations with a deep value based social commitment, to bring about social change through and with artistic expressions. 

To date 16 students are studying in the program.

Henry Osman (Year 2, sem 2)

Henry Osman was born on 2nd 02, 1989 is a Sudanese national. He completed Sudan Certificate for Senior (S.6). He was raised by a single mother who also educated him and still paying for his course at NIAAD. He is currently pursuing a diploma in visual communication and design. Henry wants to continue to do painting after completing his course and after IIA. His passion is rooted in drawing and photography for charity. He wants to use art to advocate for social transformation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Katasi Margret (Year 2, sem 1)

Monica is a Ugandan born on 10th 07, 1998. She is currently pursuing a diploma in fashion and design from NIAAD. Before joining NIAAD, Monica completed a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education. She now wants to start a fashion and design collection. She recently contested under National Unity Platform (political party led by Hon. Bobi Wine) as secretary for student’s affairs, a political position in Uganda’s government.

 

 

 

 

 

Alphonse Buwembo (Year 2, sem 1)

Alphonse was born on 12th 06, 1997. He completed a Uganda Certificate of Education and is currently pursuing a certificate in art and design at NIAAD. He wants to become a professional visual artists. He intends to start recording music videos. His music will be about peace, justice and awareness. Apart from that Alphonse wants to open an art studio where he can display a collection of his paintings and designs.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Eric Willy (Year 1, sem 2)

Eric is a Kenyan national. He was born on 5th 08, 1989. Eric completed a Kenyan certificate of secondary education. He is currently pursuing a diploma in textile and jewelry design. He has strong passion for art and poetry. He wants to be a singer and a motivational speaker. Before joining NIAAD, Eric was making bracelets, beads and jewelry and selling some of the pieces to raise money. He uses beads and fish lines to design. Other than that, he has also designs and prints different country flags and sell them to people who need to use.

 

 

 

 

 

Kisaakye Sandra (Year 2, sem 2)

Kisaakye was born on 18th 03, 2000. Sandra completed a Uganda Certificate of Education and is currently pursuing a certificate in fashion and design at NIAAD. Her passion is to inspire people through fashion and design. She is interested in interior designing, painting and computer aided designs. Sandra is currently volunteering at Topaz-Inspiration to assist with coordination of IIA international teaching sessions in Uganda.

 

 

 

 

Okuku Emmanuel (Year 1, sem 2)

Emma was born on 2nd 12, 2000. He completed a Uganda Certificate of Education before joining NIAAD where he is now pursuing a diploma in visual communication and design. Away from school Emma volunteers at his church as a photographer and videographer. In that way he practices his skills that he learns from school. After completing his course and after finishing IIA, he wants to be a role model and inspiration to others by starting a studio of his own.

Tumwesigye Mellon (Year 2, sem 1) Following up about her art piece

Mellon was born on 17th 08, 2001 in Uganda. She completed a Uganda Certificate of Education and later joined NIAAD to pursue her certificate in fashion and design. Mellon wants to be an activist, a role model and an agent for social transformation. She wants to use her art to influence change.

 

 

 

 

Jemimah Mercy (Year 1, Sem 1)

Mercy was born on 07th 03, 2000 in Uganda. She completed Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) and is currently pursuing a diploma in fashion design. Away from school Mercy practices styling and poetry majorly. She loves styling because it’s easier to gather various pieces of work that Portrays a huge story which is soul touching and life changing. She is now working on an upcoming styling experience that she expect should lay a foundation for her career as a stylist (kashwitie-styling-experience on Instagram). After her course and after IIA, she wants to be a role model and to create valuable art pieces that will reflect culture, peace, diversities, etc.

 

Dokcen Julian (Year 2, sem 2)

Julian was born on 11th 10, 1996 in Nebbi district, Uganda. He completed a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and now pursuing a diploma in fine art. Julian got inspired in 2010 while he was at a high school to practice art. During his high school vacation, he designed sign posts, banners, flyers and t-shirts for companies and other business enterprises in exchange for money. After his course, he wants to open up an art studio, where he can train children, especially street kids to learn how to draw and paint.

 

 

 

 

Mwatu Cornelius (year 2, sem 2).

Cornelius is a Uganda born on 26th 03, 1998. He completed a Uganda Certificate of Education. Cornelius is now pursuing a diploma in visual communication. While away from school, he practiced art by designing art pieces about economic situations in the country. He sells his art pieces. Cornelius also does animation and use them to display messages and awareness to his audience. He wants to open up a graphics and design studio after his course and after IIA. Cornelius now intends to become a social entrepreneur.

 

 

 

 

Nansubuga Jacqueline (Year 2, sem 1)

Jackeline is a Ugandan born on 02nd 09, 2002. Before her certificate at NIAAD, she completed a Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE). She is now pursuing a certificate in fashion and design. She loves fashion and design. During school breaks, she sells commodities at her mom’s shop in Kampala. After her course and after completing IIA, Jacky wants to be a social entrepreneur and to become one of the leading fashion designers in the world. Her plan to start a fashion studio is to inspire other young women like her to dream bigger.

 

 

 

 

 

Okidi Maureen (Year 2, sem 1)

Maureen was born on the 23rd 10, 1996. She completed a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education before joining NIAAD. Maureen is currently pursuing a diploma in fine art. She has been writing poems and recording them in order to pass a message and awareness to her audience about HIV/AIDs and other diseases in the community. She strongly believes in co-existence and wants to be an activist to inspire men and women to appreciate and live in harmony with each other and with nature. Her overall goal is to create social change.

 

 

 

 

Ruvuza Sam (Year 2, sem 1)

Samuel was born on 8th 08, 1998. He completed a Uganda Certificate of Education (S.4) and currently pursuing a certificate in Art and Design at NIAAD. After his certificate, Samuel wants to start a diploma in videography and photography at the same campus. He currently practices painting and intends to do it at a much higher level. Samuel likes to watch movies in most of his free times.

 

 

 

 

Usi Boi (Year 2, sem 2)

Usi is a Kenyan national. He was born on 19th 04, 1989. Before joining NIAAD, Usi completed a senior two (Kenyan Certificate). He worked in sculpture studio back in his home country prior to joining NIAAD. His dream now is to become king of Art and design. After graduating and completing honors (IIA), Usi wants to become a teacher in an art institution so that he can support other young artist to realize their God given potentials. His skills could help many more people in the community if he ever got the chance to.

 

 

 

 

 

Onesmas Grace (Year 2, sem 1)

Grace was born on 03rd. 12, 1998. Before joining NIAAD, he completed Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education, s.6 (12th grade). Grace is currently pursuing a diploma in visual communication from NIAAD. He is a follower of Christ and believes in living a good example to the others. He wants to use art to create awareness about issues related to diseases, lifestyles, bad cultures, and many more. He is very passionate about climate change. After completing his certificate and the IIA program, Grace intends to start up a social enterprise and use it to inspire youths who have lost hopes

 

 

 

 

 

Okillian Bruce Eric (Year 2, sem 2

Bruce was born on 7th 02, 1994. He grew up with a single parent (mother). Before joining NIAAD, Bruce completed a Uganda Certificate of Education, S.4 (grade 10). He is currently pursuing a diploma in fine art from NIAAD. He has done a number of wall paintings and picture frames, some of which paid him a living while on campus. His dream now is to open up a gallery where there are collections of paintings from around the world. Bruce wants to spread knowledge and awareness using art. He intends to start an orphanage center and to teach them art.
